Michael W. Thomas
Michael W. Thomas received his Bachelors degree from California State University Sonoma and his Masters Degree from the University of California Davis. He completed post-graduate studies in Chinese language and business at Beijing University and was president of a U.S. – Chinese joint venture company before attending law school.
Mr. Thomas acquired his J.D. From Santa Clara University School of law in 1991 and has practiced real estate, business, corporate and homeowner association law in both California and Hawaii. His legal practice includes transactional, litigation and appellate work. Mr. Thomas was formerly a partner in the law firm of Bays, Deaver, Hiatt, Lung and Rose and was Of Counsel with the firm Weintraub, Genshlea, Chediak & Sproul. He is a member of the Community Associations Institute and previously sat on the Board of Directors for the California North Chapter of CAI. Mr. Thomas is a member of the California State Bar’s Real Property Law and Litigation sections.
Mr. Thomas is also a certified instructor for the California Association of Community Managers. He has authored numerous articles on homeowner association and real estate law. Mr. Thomas also lectures frequently for Brandman University and Lorman Seminars. Mr. Thomas regularly gives seminars on California reals estate and easement law as well as landlord tenant and construction law.
Mr. Thomas has been rated BV by Martindale-Hubbard and has been recognized as one of America’s Most Honored Professionals by the American Registry. He has also been included in Sacramento Magazine’s 2017 Top Lawyers.
When not working for his clients, Mr. Thomas races endurance horses and enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys.
